How we began.....

Frabjous Catfé was inspired by a weekend getaway to Charleston, SC, where Dawn and her husband stumbled upon their very first cat café. What started as a casual search for fun local spots turned into something magical the moment they stepped inside—a space filled with cozy charm, happy cats, and warm coffee.

For Dawn, it was more than just a memorable visit—it was the spark that ignited a dream. A lifelong animal lover and natural host, she envisioned creating a place where people could relax, connect, and help save lives at the same time.

After moving to North Carolina, Dawn began fostering with a local rescue, and together they formed the perfect partnership. Blending her love for coffee, cats, and the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland (Tim Burton, 2010), Frabjous Catfé came to life—a place where every cup of coffee helped another cat find their happily ever after. By 2025, Frabjous Catfé had grown into something truly special—a space filled with compassion, community, and countless rescued cats.

Our Journey

As we faced new challenges with Frabjous Catfe and our physical location, we were met with incredible support from the people who believed in our mission. That encouragement inspired our next chapter: Whisker Junction.

We created our 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, Whisker Junction as it is being built on everything we learned from Frabjous Catfé and expands our vision to do even more—not just for cats, but for the community as a whole. Whisker Junction as a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit is considered a subtype 509 (a) (2) charity that connects people and adoptable cats in a safe, welcoming space. Our mission is to increase cat adoptions, support community wellness, and provide a gathering place that blends compassion, cats and connection.

While adoptable cats will always be at the heart of what we do, Whisker Junction will also serve as a vibrant community hub—supporting rescue efforts, offering spaces for connection, and creating joyful, healing experiences where people and animals thrive together. We have worked diligently in the background to find ways to bring Whisker Junction to life.

We are thrilled to share that we’ll be opening at Keith’s Store very soon — in the heart of Wake Forest. The greater your support, the faster we can create the future home of Whisker Junction’s nonprofit space! We hope to continue the community spirit that comes with Keith's store and although there are no cats at Keith’s Store — your continued support is what will allow us to build and prepare a safe, welcoming environment for them.

This milestone opens the door to everything we’ve been working toward:

• Helping more cats get adopted

• Reducing high euthanasia rates in NC

• Providing safe fostering space

• Creating education, wellness & outreach programs

• Supporting local small businesses and nonprofits
